'Wisdom' From the Church
I pulled this quote from another blog:
The audience of more than 700 sat rapt in the pews of a Fort Lauderdale church. Some held Bibles. Others took notes. Nicolosi went on to tell them that fathers could help their sons stay straight by bonding through rough-and-tumble games, such as tossing them in the air."Even if [the dad] drops the kid and he cracks his head, at least he'll be heterosexual," Nicolosi said, chuckling. "A small price to pay."
I guess the sad thought here is that the pastor, and probably most of the congregation, believes this.
The writer of the blog responds by saying:
Or they can be beaten into submission. Or driven to suicide. A small price to pay. And it's paid all the time in this country and around the world.
Well said.

This is where I get confused. How does wrestling around with other guys supposed to encourage heterosexuality? Shouldn't these kids be wrestling their moms? And wouldn't that lead to a whole other host of issues that NO ONE wants to think about, not just Bible-thumping homophobes? Ugggh. I'm going to go scrub my brain.
Brilliant logic, isn't it?
I guess the thinking is that by wrestling with their dad, brother, or other guys, they will get the male intimacy they need. The problem with that thinking is that plenty of gay men have great relationships with their dads, and growing up, they did many things together, including wrestling.

Wow. I hope he doesn't have children.
Curios M - then then can deal with more freudian issues if they wrestle their mom ;)
