Drinking

More than any other time in my life, I have seriously considered taking up drinking.

As some of you know, I am a true teetotaler. I have never had an alcoholic beverage; not beer, not wine, not liquor, nothing.

However, life seems to get a little more complicated each day, and I feel that having a glass of wine in the evenings would take the edge off and help me to sleep.

I realize that part of me would feel like a failure, having abstained from alcohol for this long, only to succumb in a (frequent) moment of weakness.

Also, I dislike the drinking culture in America, and fear becoming part of it.

And, I have a serious aversion to "fun." It's true.

We'll see, but If you see me running into Kroger late at night with a crazed look in my eyes, please stop me.

Although I don't subscribe to the notion that one should drink in order to fall asleep or take the edge off of life, I have succumbed to the urge in the past. Mostly when I visit my mother. (I've found that rum works best. Cheers!)

I personally have done the drinking to fall asleep and take the edge off. I highly suggest against it. You end up really drunk and hitting on a friend in Cleveland, long story. But the best thing to do is to go running, bike, or lift. Something along those lines. Get some exercise and wear yourself out. You will not only feel better afterwards, but you will be doing something good for your body. And yes, I do take my own advice, he he he :)

I get on the treadmill for about 30-40 minutes when I get home in the evening. I try not to do it too close to my bedtime because it keeps me up. I'm sick of the Tylenol PM, and I don't want to start with Ambien again.

Hmmm....maybe I should stock up on the rum?
